Blog Post #1 Pre-Project

Since my attendance at the Hawken Lower School, I have had a passion for our natural world and the resources that power nations. At the lower school, I was an enthusiastic member of the Energy Team, a club dedicated to learning about the importance of  renewable energy and spreading awareness in our community. I remember visiting the science museum, seeing the large wind turbines and feeling overwhelmed with shock and awe at how impress a spectacle they are, although, due to the aged model, the turbines only generate 7% of the center’s energy. From that moment onwards, my interest in renewable resources continued to grow. I began to practice collecting rain water to feed plants at home, and installed a compost pit behind our chicken coop. Now, as I am leaving Hawken I want to have a lasting contribution that other students will benefit and learn from.
